Shreveport Police leaders are remembering fallen officer Chatéri Payne.
Payne was shot and killed Wednesday night before the start of her shift.
Payne graduated the police academy in November 2018, making a dream come true.
‘Long Days. Aching Nights. But I decided to stand tall on my dream. It is an honor to be able to join such a powerful family with my Brothers and Sisters in Blue’.
“She was well liked by her classmates. and it was evident to all she had a true calling to serve” said Shreveport Police Chief Ben Raymond.
Michael Carter, President of the Shreveport Police Officer’s Associations, said Payne was a gift.
“Shreveport was so fortunate to have her. She stepped up during one of the most critical times in American History to be a police officer in a violent city. She was doing very well at it. We were very proud of her” said Carter.
