Shreveport Symphony Orchestra prepares for season finale and free family concert

The Shreveport Symphony Orchestra performs its 2017-18 season finale Saturday, May 5th at 7:30 p.m. at RiverView Theater, under the direction of Michael Butterman, conductor.

It’s part of the Willis-Knighton Masterworks Series.

Grammy-nominated violinist Philippe Quint returns to Shreveport to perform Korngold’s Violin Concerto with the Shreveport Symphony.

The program and the SSO’s masterworks season conclude with a performance of Brahms’ Symphony No. 4. 

A free concert conversation begins at 6:40 p.m.

On Sunday, treat the family to a free concert with fun music for everyone, “Carnival of the Animals”.

It begins at 3:00 p.m. at RiverView Theater.

Concert music will include Saint-Saëns’ Carnival of the Animals, Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake with the Shreveport Metro Ballet, and the theme from Jurassic Park,.

Pre-concert activities begin at 2:15 p.m. and include food trucks, instrument demonstrations and craft booths.

The concert is sponsored by The Community Foundation of North Louisiana – William C. Woolf Fund.
