Simsboro school on lockdown

(KTVE) A Lincoln Parish high school is on lockdown after an officer-involved shooting happened nearby today.

Simsboro High School was locked down following the shooting on Highway 80 in front of the school.

According to the Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office, LPDO Deputy Kyle Luker attempted to make a traffic stop on I-20 and the suspect got off and stopped on Highway 80.

The suspect shot at Luker, but the deputy’s bullet-proof vest blocked the bullet. Luker returned fire, and the suspect is reported dead.

The suspect’s name has not been released, but officials told KTVE he is from Tennessee.

The Louisiana State Police is at the scene and is conducting the investigation.
