SHREVEPORT, LA - Starting July 31, smoking will no longer be allowed in public housing nationwide.
HUD, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, said going smoke-free will lower property maintenance costs and reduce the risk of fire.
This ban was announced in November 2016 from U.S. Housing and Urban Development but Public Housing Agencies were given until July 31 to abide by the new rule.
