The son of a police officer who was killed in the line of duty gets a special gift for his birthday.
Caden Sprague, who is turning 10-years-old in August, is the son of Texarkana, Texas Police Officer Jason Sprague who was killed 5 years ago in the line of duty.
A while back, Caden told his mom , Stephanie, that the only thing that he wanted for his birthday this year was to tour Cowboy Stadium.
Stephanie Sprague decided to reach out to the Texas Police Officers’ Association to see if they could possibly arrange a tour for him.
With the help of the Dallas Cowboys and Southwest Airlines, a surprise trip was arranged for Caden and his family to the Cowboys’ Training Camp in Oxnard, California.
Caden got the VIP treatment while he was there. He had field access during their practices and met some of his favorite football players.
Caden’s mom posted this on the Texarkana Texas Police Department Facebook page:
Stephanie said, “Everyone we came into contact with, from Southwest Airlines, to the event staff and security for the camp, hotel staff, and all players and coaches were appreciative of our sacrifice and supportive of our blue family. The Oxnard Police Department welcomed Caden with open arms and treated him just as one of their own kids. In the past five years, I have never witnessed Caden be so continuously happy, carefree, and beaming. These five years have been a long road of continual attempts to mend the broken pieces. Each person we have meet, and so many more we haven’t, are all a part of our healing journey. To see Caden, five years later, beaming with happiness because his attempts to choose joy were recognized, is such a healing moment for us all. Thank you all for continuing to support, love, and lift us in prayer. I am certain Jason is beaming from heaven at how amazingly Caden was honored this week.”
