A Shreveport Police officer charged domestic abuse in Bossier was fired Thursday by SPD Chief Alan Crump following a pre-disciplinary conference.
Gary Thomas, 36, was hired by the Shreveport Police Department in February 2010.
He was arrested May 10 in Bossier City and at that time was charged with false imprisonment and domestic abuse battery for allegedly injuring his wife and refusing to allow her to leave the home. However, but the Bill of Information filed by the Bossier District Attorney’s office on June 14 only charges him with domestic abuse battery.
At the time of his May arrest in Bossier City, Thomas was on medical leave from the SPD, after being shot in the foot by a fellow officer trying to hit a charging dog in March.
Thomas was in Bossier District Court July 5 and pleaded not guilty to the charge; he is on the docket to appear in court again on Sept. 6.
