SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – A total of six juveniles face criminal charges in connection with a theft from a local discount store in north Shreveport early Wednesday afternoon, according to police.
Officers were called to the Family Dollar store in the 2600 block of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. just after 1 p.m. Wednesday for a report of shots fired. Once on the scene, they were told that a store employee had been shot at after a group of teens inside the store began to steal items from with the business.
Once spotted, the teens reportedly ran out of the store with an employee giving chase. It was at that point that one of the juveniles allegedly fired a gun in the direction of the employee.
No one was injured during the ordeal. However, police say officers were able to track several of those involved to a home in the 1700 block of Peach St., where they found a firearm believed to have been used in the incident.
It was later learned the weapon had been previously stolen. In the process of the investigation, four of the teens were summonsed for theft from the business, while two 17-year-old males were booked into the Caddo Juvenile Detention on charges of illegal discharge of a weapon, theft and illegal possession of a stolen firearm.
