UPDATE: A SWAT team is called to the scene of an armed man who barricaded himself inside a home.

Shreveport Police say a man and woman were arguing at the home in the Queensborough neighborhood on Sunday.

The man walked out of the house with a gun and walked into an empty home.

The negotiation team and swat searched the house.

Police say the man does have a history of mental health issues and his name has not been released.

ORIGINAL: Shreveport police are currently on the scene at the intersection of San Jacinto and the 3500 block of West College where an armed suspect reportedly is inside or around a home there.

According to witnesses, late this morning the suspect was engaged in an altercation with someone inside another residence on West College.

The suspect, who was armed, then left that home and went into the residence where police believe he is either or was inside on the same block.

Police were called when the armed suspect left the first home, and were at the scene when the gunshot was fired from inside or around the second home.

It is unknown at this time if the suspect left the second home or is still inside, nor do police know if the suspect is alone.

A negotiation team was called to the scene, and are conferring with detectives and officers on strategy.

NBC6/FOX33’s Zyneria Byrd is on the scene and will bring details on this developing story as they become available.
