‘Stamp Out Hunger’ food drive donations down over last year

TEXARKANA, TEXAS (KTAL/KMSS) – Harvest Regional Food Bank picked up 20,000 pounds of food at the post office on Monday.

That number is down from 25,000 pounds collected last year. The food was brought in by mail carriers on Saturday for their annual ‘Stamp Out Hunger’ food drive. The donations will be divided among five Texarkana charities who help feed those in need.

Food bank officials said Arkansas and Texas are in the top 10 states for the number of food insecure children. Arkansas is number two on the list. “There is definitely a need, and our counties in our service area actually average a little higher than the statewide rate,” said Camille Wringle, executive director of Harvest Regional Food Bank.

Wrinkle said the food bank always welcomes donations. If you’d like to help out, please contact Harvest Regional Food Bank at https://harvestregionalfoodbank.org/
