Sterlington woman dies in overnight crash

A Sterlington woman lost her life early this morning, after the vehicle she was driving traveled off the road and began overturning in Quachita Parish.

Twenty-six-year-old Megan Jackson, who was not wearing a seatbelt, died at the scene of the accident on Highway 134, according to Louisiana State Police.

Troopers from LSP Troop F responded to the single-vehicle crash shortly after 2:45 a.m. today.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Jackson was driving a 2016 Honda CRV

Shortly after 2:45 a.m., Louisiana State Police Troop F responded to a single-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 134 approximately 5 mile east of US Hwy165. The preliminary investigation revealed Jackson was driving a 2016 Honda CRV east on LA Hwy 134 when she traveled off the left side of the road.

Jackson apparently overcorrected, causing her to travel across both lanes, strike a ditch embankment and causing the vehicle to overturn. Jackson was ejected during the crash and pronounced dead at the scene by the Ouachita Parish Coroner’s Office.

A toxicology sample was obtained and will be submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation.
