Caddo Parish Commissioner Steven Jackson announces he will run for Shreveport mayor.
During an event described as a conversation with his constituents, someone asked if he was entering the race and he answered yes.
Fox 33/NBC 6’s Marquel Sennet asked him, if elected how he plans to address crime within his first 30 days in office.
Jackson says, “We have to make sure we have a police chief and a leader that is effective and one that has the confidence of the department. Again we have to go out and put boots on the ground and we have to invest in technology and the resources that our police officers need.”
Current Mayor Ollie Tyler and former executive director of Crimestoppers, Jim Taliaferro have already announced their campaigns.
Qualifying begins July 18th.
