Crews will begin work on Monday morning to remove the debris left behind from the recent storms.
Parish Administrator Bill Altimus said workers will begin at 8 a.m. in Country Place subdivision and, when completed, will move to each residential area that needs assistance.
“Beginning Monday morning, anything brought to the road rights-of-way will be removed by parish crews,” Altimus said. “We anticipate lots of limbs and remnants of large trees that have fallen during the storms.”
An emergency declaration covering the parish was signed Saturday morning by Police Jury President Glenn Benton.
“Our highway department workers have done a great job of clearing roadways and getting them back open to traffic,” Altimus said. “The damage caused by this storm system was widespread and our crews were working in the rain all night and into the early hours of Saturday morning.”
Residents who have stacked debris in the right-of-way can call the police jury highway department Monday at 965-3752 and arrangements will be made for removal.
