Students learn safety through mock crash

Local

Local students learn how to stay safe during prom season.

The Shreveport Police Department held a mock crash at Huntington High School Tuesday morning.

Students participated in the crash and reenacted scenes involving drunk driving and texting while driving.

“People that leave prom and start drinking and try and have fun but the wrong way. It was a life-lesson,” said Lamariah Linnear, senior.

“We’re out here trying to keep kids alive and to send a message that this stuff is very real,” said Angie Willhite, Shreveport Police Department public information officer.

The police department will host more mock crashes at other local high schools.
