Successor named for retiring TTPD Chief

We now know who is set to step into the Texarkana Texas Police Chief’s shoes when he retires later this month.

Assistant Police Chief Kevin Schutte will serve as Acting Police Chief beginning December 29.

Schutte has been with the department more than 30 years and said he is excited to introduce new initiatives for the growing community.

“We’re looking at innovative ways to meet those challenges, to create new positive relationships in the community, and just to continue to do the great things that this organization has been doing for the past several years,” said Schutte.
The city council is expected to vote to confirm Schutte’s appointment on January 14.
Schutte will replace Chief Daniel Shiner, who is retiring after 11 years leading the department.
