Sunday’s storm leaves destruction in Shreveport

A tree branch totals a truck and blocks the front door of a home, Sunday off of Greenway Place thanks to storms.

Now the owner, Andy Modica is left trying to saw through the aftermath.

“We had that microburst of winds. It was a matter of cutting a few limbs away just so I could just get out of my house,” said Modica.

Before seeing the huge limb fall, he heard a boom.

“And I thought it might have been a transformer or a thunder bolt or whatever,” said Modica.

It was the same for folks on Dearborn Street. “It was about 4:30 or around 5:00 in the morning when I heard the boom,” said resident Gary Bacigalupi.

The homeowners say their tree was already cracked, so it didn’t take much for the storm to topple it into the street.

Neighbors are thankful it wasn’t a repeat of what happened two years ago.

“A tree from their backyard hit the back of there house. So this time it just hit the roads so I’m glad they don’t have to go through that again,” said Isaac Ojukawu.

“Nobody got hurt, and no house got hit,” said Gary Bacigalupi.
