In response to the urgent flooding crisis, the Southern University System Office has issued a call to action to support our neighbors in South Louisiana and Houston, Texas. In a display of unity with our sister campuses with the system, Southern University at Shreveport will begin collecting items to send toward the relief effort.
Items that have been requested include: clothes, shoes, diapers, personal care, and non-perishable food items. For anyone wishing to contribute, donations can be dropped off at the Jaguar Courtyard on the main campus, located at 3050 Martin Luther King, Jr., Drive or at the Metro Center, located at 610 Texas. Drop off times are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. or Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
For those wishing to make a monetary contribution, the Southern University System Foundation has established a special 2017 Texas Flood Fund to accept donations that will go directly to support victims of the devastating flooding in Texas and Southwest Louisiana. We ask that our alumni, friends, and community join in to help with this humanitarian relief effort by making a contribution at: https://foundation.sus.edu/texas-flood-relief/.
