Shreveport Police have arrested a suspect for a fatal shooting Sunday night.

Just after 10:30 pm on November 5, 2017 Shreveport Police patrol officers responded to reports of a shooting at Fair Park Terrace Apartments in the 3400 block of Mertis Avenue.

Officers arrived to find 42-year-old Bryan Gates suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. Gates was transported to University Health Hospital where he passed away a short time later.

Witness interviews and evidence, police found out that the victim and a person known by the alias of “Joe” or “Junkman Joe” got into a argument and “Joe” pulled a gun, shooting Gates in the chest.

“Joe” was later identified as Tonnie Williams, 47, of the 3300 block of Exposition Avenue.

Tonnie surrendered himself to Violent Crimes investigators late last night and was booked into the Shreveport City Jail on one count of Second Degree Murder.
