Suspect captured after opening fire on two Bienville Parish men this morning

RINGGOLD, La. - One man is behind bars charged with attempted murder, while two men are in the hospital recovering from multiple gunshot wounds after an early-morning shooting in Bienville Parish.

Charleston Patterson was taken into custody late this morning, while David T. Rambo and Brian Jackson are in fair condition at University Health Hospital.

Just before 5 a.m. today, Bienville Parish Sheriff’s deputies received a 911 report of a shooting on Rambo Road, approximately four miles north of Ringgold. Bienville Parish Fire Districts No. 4 & 5 responded to the scene, where they began administering first aid to the two gunshot victims, and BPSO deputies were not far behind.

Before being transported to University Health Hospital, the victims told deputies had Patterson had unlawfully entered Rambo’s residents and opened fire on the two men, then exited the house and fled on foot.

A perimeter was established by Louisiana State Police units and Bienville Parish deputies until the arrival of a tracking dog from David Wade Correctional Center. Several properties around the scene were searched and cleared, but it was determined that the suspect probably left the scene in an unknown vehicle.

Later in the morning a citizen reported to BPSO that Patterson broke into his residence and forced him to provide food and water to Patterson, who then left the residence on foot.

Just before noon citizens reported seeing Patterson near the old Southside School where units from BPSO, LSP and Wildlife and Fisheries converged and took Patterson into custody without incident.

Patterson was booked into the Bienville Parish Jail, on charges of two counts of attempted first degree murder, aggravated burglary, home invasion and obstruction of justice.
