MOUNT PLEASANT, Texas (KTAL/KMSS) — A suspected house burglar who was caught in the act now sits behind bars.

On Monday, 24-year-old Oscar Banda, of Mount Pleasant, Texas, was arrested in connection with a burglary in the 300 Block of W. 8th St.

According to the Mount Pleasant Police Department, a witness reported seeing Banda forcibly enter into the home. The witness had never seen him before and knew the homeowner was at work.

Officers arrived minutes after the 911 call and surrounded the home.

Using a P.A. system, police attempted to communicate with Banda to get him to exit and surrender.

Officers at the rear of the home could hear Banda attempting to exit the house. When SWAT officers entered the home they found the Banda breaking through an exterior wall from inside a cabinet.

A taser was deployed when Banda refused to comply with verbal commands.  He later gave up and was taken into custody unharmed.

Banda was booked into the Titus Co. Jail for Burglary of a Habitation and Resisting Arrest.
