It has 4 wheels and it’s carrying hot chocolate, sound tasty?
The United Methodist Church is hitting the road this Advent season to extend Christmas invitations in 21 cities across the U.S.
It’s the True Meaning of Christmas Tour, 16-state, 21-city, 23-day road trip during which 500+ volunteers will distribute 16,000+ cups of cocoa.
Monday morning the bedecked tour truck is in the Shreveport Bossier area to distribute hot cocoa, holiday cheer and invitations to discover the true meaning of Christmas. Local tour representatives stopped by our station Monday morning to discuss the event and invite viewers to be a part of the excitement.
Monday afternoon the True Meaning of Christmas Tour will be at the Louisiana Boardwalk Outlets, near the Osh Kosh store, from 4 until 8 p.m. Volunteers from local United Methodist churches will be present to connect with passersby; there will also be a collection of socks of all sizes which will be distributed to individuals in need throughout the Shreveport area.
This tour is a unique way for the church to reach out to people who are experiencing loneliness or who want to give back to the community at this significant time of year.
The tour kicked off this weekend in Waco, Texas and Shreveport/Bossier is stop #3 on the 21 city tour.
