A man is behind bars in Texarkana charged with the armed robbery of a wireless phone store in Texarkana, Ark. on Monday.
Rolston Lockett, 26, was taken into custody Wednesday, after an investigation by Texarkana Arkansas Police detectives resulted in the issuance of a warrant for his arrest.
It happened around 5:45 p.m. Monday, when a male wearing a do-rag, white t-shirt, black shorts and Nike high-top athletic shoes and armed with a hand gun entered the Metro PCS at 809 East St. in Texarkana, Ark. and asked for money.
After gaining all the cash on hand at the business, the suspect fled south from the business towards Prince Street.
Officers and Detectives immediately responded and began collecting evidence and investigating leads. During their investigation, information from witnesses to the robbery identified Lockett.
Later in that same evening, Texarkana, Texas police were called to the Metro PCS business at 2700 Richmond Road, where a man had involved himself in an altercation while trying to pay his phone bill. When officers arrived, the man told them he tried to pay his bill earlier at 809 East Street.
In surveillance video of the incident inside the Richmond Road location, the man was wearing the do-rag and Nikes that matched those worn by Lockett in the East Street robbery.
A search warrant charging Lockett charging him with Aggravated Robbery was issued, and TAPD officers learned Lockett could be found at a motel on North State Line Avenue.
When the TAPD officers arrived, Lockett answered the door and was taken into custody.
A search warrant for evidence related to the robbery was obtained by TAPD detectives. During the execution of that search warrant in Lockett’s motel room, investigators located what they believe to be the handgun used in the East Street robbery, along with the do-rag and Nikes worn by the suspect in that robbery.
During a Wednesday interview with TAPD detectives Shane Kirkand and Wayne Easley, Lockett confessed to the Monday robbery.
A convicted felon, warrants are pending against Lockett for illegally possessing a handgun.
