As horrified neighbors watched, a Shreveport teen was shot this afternoon in his Anderson Island neighborhood.
Just after 5 today, Shreveport Police responded to reports of a shooting in the 800 block of Martha Street.
When police arrived at the scene, they found a 16-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen. The victim was taken to Ochsner LSU Hospital where he was expected to recover following emergency surgery.
As darkness rolled in, police collected evidence and spoke with witnesses, as a crime scene investigator numbered the six shell casings resting in an area around five feet in circumference in the south lane of the residential street.
Cpl. Marcus Hines, SPD public information officer, said police have information regarding a suspect, and will pass along the information after an arrest warrant is obtained.
Hines said because the shooting took place in daylight, and people were outside, there were witnesses. “There were many people saw what took place, and that does help us in our efforts to locate the person we believe is responsible for this shooting.
Police believe the suspect and victim knew one another.
