Texarkana College has set its goals for the next two years.
Among the goals are bringing the college’s foundation up from eight million dollars to ten million dollars. The foundation provides presidential scholarships. Also on the list is updating aging facilities to comply with the American Disabilities Act and being active in the promotion of economic development.
Texarkana College officials said they anticipate a balanced budget for the upcoming fiscal year. President James Henry Russell said, “We’re anticipating by August we will have a break-even budget for the 2018-19 year with no increase in the tax rate. Right now, we expect to recommend the exact same tax rate for the past year is used for the next year.”
Texarkana College also plans to grow dual credit throughout Bowie County. The initiative allows high school students to enroll in college courses, earning credit for both.
