Texarkana teen arrested after bringing gun to school

Local News

A Texarkana high school student is behind bars after police say he brought a gun to campus.

Officials said Ladarious Cardwell Forte, 17, was stopped by Liberty-Eylau Independent School District officers when he entered school grounds. Officers said they were investigating a domestic dispute between the student and his girlfriend reported by Wake Village police.

Police said upon searching Cardwell Forte they found a gun, which turned out to be stolen property.

“Unfortunately now, you have a kid that because he’s 17, and you bring it onto school property, it’s a whole other set of problems,” said Mark Fry with Liberty-Eylau ISD. “So, he made a series of very poor choices that now are gonna follow him for a long time.”

The teen was booked into the Bi-State Jail as an adult. He faces charges for bringing a weapon on school grounds and possession of stolen property.

Officials said he was also immediately expelled from school.
