The Salvation Army received a $50,000 grant from the AEP Foundation. SWEPCO, an AEP company presented half of the money to the Salvation Army’s Merkle Center of Hope. The money will help the Salvation Army in its day to day operations providing food and shelter to the homeless.
“The gift from the AEP Foundation will help make sure that folks have a warm place to sleep on nights like this. It goes so far in our community,” said Major Whitney Morton, Salvation Army.
The foundation likes to support educational opportunities especially STEM education, homeless, and feeding programs,” said Michael Corbin, SWEPCO External Affairs Manager.
The Salvation Army will receive the remaining $25,000 later in the year.
