Traffic stop lands man behind bars on drug charges

A man has been locked up after deputies find marijuana and meth hidden in his clothes during a
traffic stop.

The incident happened Sunday on Interstate-30 in Hooks, Texas.

Deputies were trying to pull over a red Ford truck when they saw the passenger throw something out of the window. 

The driver told detectives that the passenger, Reco Renard Hawkins, threw marijuana out of the truck.

After deputies smelled marijuana they asked to search the vehicle and discovered a blue bag
containing two pipes used to smoke methamphetamine and two clear bags containing
methamphetamine.

Hawkins was arrested after claiming ownership of the blue bag. 

Deputies also found marijuana and 27 grams of meth in Hawkins’ clothing.  

Hawkins was later booked into the Bi-State Jail for Possession of a Controlled Substance Over
Four Grams and Under 200 Grams and Possession of Marijuana Under Two Ounces. 

Bond for Hawkins has been set at $27,500.
