TTPD looking into video posted on Facebook

Texarkana, Texas Police say they’re looking into video that was posted on Facebook last showing one of their officers hitting a man during an arrest.

It happened outside the MoJo gas station late Monday night.

You can see the officer hitting the man while telling him to put his hands behind his back.

The person recording the video says ‘Now sir you don’t have to assault him now’. The unidentified officers yells at the person to back up twice and says ‘you’re next’. 

Texarkana, Texas Police released this statement on Facebook.

‘We are aware of a video on social media today that shows two of our officers using force to arrest a man this week. While it would be premature to comment on the incident at this point, we want you to know that we are looking into it. Every time an officer uses any level of force, it is thoroughly reviewed to ensure our officers followed all departmental rules and regulations.’

The video posted has over 9,000 views on Facebook.
