Two arrested, accused of using drugs in front of young child

Two people who allegedly used drugs in front of a young child now sit behind bars.

On Aug. 16 agents with the Tri Parish Taskforce responded to 207 3rd St. in Logansport. in reference to complaint that methamphetamine and marijuana was being used in the presence of a juvenile.  

The complaint also stated that the living conditions inside the residence was unsanitary.  

Agents arrived at the home and were able to make contact with 33-year-old Shantel Y. Carmadelle and 26-year-old David L. Carter.  

Consent was given to search the home and agents located marijuana and baggies believed to contain meth residue.  All items were in plain view and in reach of the child.  

A report was filed with the Department of Children & Family Services and the child was released to a family member.  

During questioning both Carmadelle and Carter admitted to knowledge of marijuana and baggies with meth residue was inside of the house. 

Both were booked into the DeSoto Parish Detention Center on the following charges:

Shantel Y. Carmadelle was charged with: 

  • Possession of Marijuana
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
  • Possession of CDS in the presence of a person under 17


David L. Carter was charged with: 

  • Possession of Marijuana 2nd
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
  • Possession of CDS in the presence of a person under 17
  • Warrant for Probation Violation
