Two Texarkana, Texas, teens – one a juvenile and one 19-years-old – are behind bars facing serious charges after being apprehended following an armed robbery.
Donta Carson, 19, of Texarkana, Texas, was taken into custody Wednesday, and the 16-year-old is in Juvenile Detention Center, after an armed robbery of a woman in an apartment complex parking lot.
Texarkana Texas Police officers responded to an armed robbery report in the 2200 block of West 15th Street.
When officers arrived around 10 a.m. Wednesday and located the victim, she told them she was sitting in her vehicle when an unknown young male opened the passenger door of her vehicle and got in. He pointed a handgun at her and ordered her to give him all her money.
He then took her purse, exited the vehicle and fled on foot into a small white car.
The victim immediately called 9-1-1 and provided descriptions of the suspects and the car they left in.
When officers arrived in the area, they saw a white vehicle driving on West 16th that immediately made an abrupt turn in the apartment complex as the patrol unit approached.
The suspects fled the vehicle, and Carson was detained by officers shortly afterward, after being identified as one of the subjects seen running from the vehicle, which had been reported stolen on Tuesday.
With the help of witnesses, the juvenile was located in a public area of the apartment complex a short time later and arrested.
Carson was charged with Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, and the juvenile was arrested for Aggravated Robbery.
TTPD Detective James Hargrave later obtained an arrest warrant for Carson on the additional charge of Aggravated Robbery, which was served Thursday morning in the Bi-State Jail.
Carson’s bond was set at $25,000 for Aggravated Robbery and $10,000 for Unauthorized Use of Motor Vehicle.
Detectives believe there may be more suspects involved in this robbery and ask that anyone with information on this crime contact the Texarkana Texas Police Department at 903-798-3116 or Texarkana Area CrimeStoppers at 903-793-STOP.
