Two injured, one a 9-year-old in Thursday night shooting

UPDATE: Shreveport Police are investigating a west Shreveport shooting that left a man and a child injured Thursday night. 

Just after 10 p.m. Thursday, Shreveport Police patrol officers responded to the 6300 block of West Canal on reports of a shooting.

Upon their arrival, Officers arrived and located two victims, 22-year-old Amin Abdelbain and a 9-year-old. Both were suffering from non-life threatening gunshot injuries to the lower body. Both were transported to University Health Hospital for treatment.

Investigators with the Violent Crimes division contacted Abdelbain at the hospital. He advised investigators that he heard gunshots and fled on foot into the residence. He was unable to provide any other information relative to the shooting. There were no witnesses at the scene. The investigation continues.
