An Arkansas sheriff’s deputy has resigned following his arrest over the weekend.
The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office issued the following statement on Wednesday afternoon:
Deputy Daniel Cantwell resigned today. He was under investigation by the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office Professional Standards Unit at the time.
A deputy is behind bars on battery charges following a weekend incident in Arkansas.
The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office confirms the arrest of Daniel Cantwell, 27, of White Hall.
Cantwell, who is a deputy with the PCSO, is listed on the jail roster for the Saline County Sheriff’s Office in Benton, Arkansas.
Cantwell is charged with Battery and Terroristic Threatening felonies and an Assault misdemeanor charge.
The jail record shows Cantwell was booked into the jail shortly after 4 a.m. on Sunday.
As of 10:30 a.m. Monday, he had no bond amount.
No other details have yet been released about the incident in which Cantwell has been charged.
