UPDATE: Arrest made in murder of former Shreveport teen

UPDATE: Police in Decatur, Georgia say they’ve arrested a man for shooting and killing a former Shreveport teen.

17-yeear-old Janae Owens was shot last Wednesday evening while riding in a car. 

50-year-old Simmie Rischard Reed was taken into custody on Friday.

Reed has been charged with one count of murder, two counts of aggravated assault with intent to commit murder and one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Janae’s mother was also shot. Her twin sister, who was riding in the back seat, was uninjured. 

The family had recently moved to Atlanta. 

ORIGINAL: A Shreveport teen is shot and killed Wednesday in Decatur, Georgia during a road rage incident. 

WSB in Atlanta is reporting the teen is identified as Janae Owens of Shreveport. 

Decatur, Georgia Police say Owens and another person in the car were shot while at an intersection. 

WSB is also reporting the second victim is Janae’s mother.

Her injuries are said to be non-life threatening. WXIA is reporting a third persobn was in the car, but that individual did not get hurt.

Decatur Police released a picture of the car they believe the suspect was driving.

So far no arrests have been made.
