UPDATE: According to Yazoo County officials, the body of a man found in an SUV is that of a missing man from Benton, LA.
The Mississippi Crime Lab positively identified the body of 32-year-old Shawn King.
According to investigators, King was supposed to start a new job. Relatives reported him missing August 3.
UPDATE: A body found this morning in a field off of Highway 16 near Benton, Miss., is believed to be a missing Benton man, according to detectives with the Bossier Sheriff’s Office.
Shawn “Corey” King, 32, of Benton, La, went missing back on Aug. 3, and Bossier Sheriff’s Office detectives traveled to Mississippi this morning to assist with the investigation after King’s truck was found wrecked and abandoned on the 12000 block of Highway 16. His body was found earlier today not far from where the wreck occurred. King’s family has been notified.
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation and the Yazoo County Sheriff’s Office will conduct the investigation.
UPDATE: The Bossier Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that the truck belonging the Benton man who has been missing since Aug. 3 was found wrecked and abandoned in a one-vehicle crash in Yazoo County, Mississippi, located just north of Jackson.
The 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe belonging to Shawn “Corey” King, 32, of the 2000 block of Chelsy Drive in Benton, was recently located by the Yazoo County Sheriff’s Office on the 12000 block of Highway 16 near Benton, Mississippi. Deputies found no one at the scene, and there is no obvious evidence of foul play, Bossier Sheriff’s Office detectives said.
Bossier detectives will travel to Yazoo County Wednesday morning to help the Yazoo County Sheriff’s Office with the investigation.

Shawn “Corey” King, 32, of the 2000 block of Chelsy Drive in Benton, was last seen in his black 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe (LA license plate 914AVZ) at a gas station near Louisiana Downs around 8:30 p.m. Friday night. Bossier detectives say he may also be driving a 2016 black and silver Harley Davidson motorcycle. Shawn was supposed to start a new job in Ruston on Aug. 6, but he had not returned home to get his bag that he had begun to pack for his trip. His family is concerned for his welfare.
