UPDATE: A change of heart for Shreveport City Councilman Willie Bradford.

Bradford announced on Facebook that he will seek re-election for his District A council seat.

In June Bradford announced that he would not see re-election, but says he changed his mind due to ‘overwhelming urging from constituents in District A, his family and fellow council members.”

Qualifying for the November 6 election begins Wednesday and runs through Friday.

ORIGINAL: This week Shreveport City Councilman Willie Bradford announces he is not seeking re-election in November.

Bradford was elected in 2014 to the District A seat following a runoff against incumbent Rose Wilson-McCulloch.

During his tenure Bradford has been openly critical of Shreveport Police Chief, Alan Crump and has been a proponent for more diversity with city contracts.

District A includes the Dr. Martin Luther King, Allendale and Lakeside neighborhoods.

Election day is November 6th.  Qualifying runs from July 18th – 20th.
