UPDATE: Man found dead after house fire named

The Caddo Parish Coroner’s office has identified the man found dead in a Thursday morning house fire.

The victim is identified as 62-year-old Donald Blackwell. His body was found this morning in a house fire in the 600 block of Harrison Street, in west Cedar Grove.

Firefighters located the fire in a rear bedroom where the victim was found. The fire was contained to this portion of the home.  A female was able to escape the home uninjured prior to the fire department’s arrival.

Right now, investigators could not say if the person died before or after the fire started.

Fire Chief Skip Pinkston says there were no working smoke detectors inside the home.

The Shreveport Fire Department encourages every resident within the City of Shreveport to have a working smoke detector.
