Investigators with the Shreveport Police Department’s Robbery Task Force have arrested a man they believe responsible for four business robberies dating as far back as April 2017.
On November 9, 2017, just after 6:00 pm, Shreveport Police responded to an armed robbery that had just occurred at the Thrifty Liquor at 8420 Linwood Avenue. Officers learned that a masked man wearing a gray hoodie and red pants entered the store, allegedly jumped across the counter, and held a handgun to the back of the cashier’s head while demanding money. The suspect took an undisclosed amount of money and fled the scene.
Detectives with the Robbery Task Force and Crime Scene Units responded to the scene. Video and other evidence was collected from the scene and processed. Shortly after the robbery took place, detectives received a tip from Shreveport Caddo Crime Stoppers that gave information that helped investigators identify the alleged suspect. On December 6, 2017, detectives procured a warrant charging Demarcus McDowell with one count of Armed Robbery stemming from that incident.
On December 7, just after 10:30 pm Robbery Task Force and Special Response Team members working an armed robbery initiative received a new Crime Stoppers tip disclosing McDowell’s whereabouts. Investigators acted on that information and took McDowell into custody at a residence in the 4300 block of Orla Avenue.
Through their extensive and ongoing investigations, detectives linked McDowell to three additional robberies that included two prior robberies at that same Thrifty Liquor back on May 22, 2017 and November 28, 2017 and the April 28, 2017 armed robbery of the Family Dollar Store located at 280 West 84th Street, just one block away.
McDowell was booked into the Shreveport City Jail on four counts of Armed Robbery of a business.
Police have identified a man they believe robbed a local liquor store thanks to a Crime Stoppers tip.
The robbery happened back on Nov. 9 at the Thrifty Liquor in the 8400 block of Linwood Ave.

During the investigation detectives received a tip from Shreveport-Caddo Crime Stoppers that helped them identify Demarcus McDowell as a suspect in the robbery.
On Wednesday detectives obtained a warrant charging McDowell with one count of Armed Robbery. His bond is set at $200,000.
