UPDATE: The woman who led north Louisiana law enforcement agencies on a two-parish car chase that ended in a crash on West 62nd Street and Mansfield Road this morning is in custody at Caddo Correctional Center.
She is 19-year-old Kayla Ann Murphy of Boyce, La., who was booked into CCC just before 5 p.m. today.
According to Louisiana State Police, the pursuit began in DeSoto Parish, LSP joined in and when Murphy reached Shreveport, Shreveport Police joined.
Murphy then hit a DeSoto Parish Sheriff’s vehicle, and crashed into a Shreveport Police vehicle before coming to a stop. A Shreveport police officer fired during the melee, but no one was injured, according to LSP public information officer LSP Trooper Glenn Younger
After the crash, Murphy refused to get out of her truck, but a K-9 officer was able to convince her that was a bad idea.
She is charged with one count each of Reckless Operation, Resisting an Officer, Flight from an Officer, Driver Must Be Licensed, 1st Offense DWI, Out of State Fugitive and In State Fugitive; two counts of Aggravated Criminal Property Damage (for the two law-enforcement vehicles she crashed), four counts Hit and Run Driving.
She is being held on $4,100 bond.
