Venomous snake brought to East Texas animal shelter

The Marshall Police Department is asking citizens not to bring venomous snakes to the city’s animal shelter.

On Wednesday, MPD said a juvenile copperhead was brought to the shelter in a box.

“Chances are, if you see a snake in your yard, it’s probably just passing through,” the MPD said. “If you’re afraid for your life, children’s lives or pets, please call a professional.”

Police were able to release the snake back into the wild (in a remote, undisclosed location) without anyone getting injured.
