Veteran gets free home from non profit

Christmas comes early for a veteran and his family. U.S. Marine Sergeant Matthew Palermo, with his wife and 3 children get a new start at life with a new home. Palermo was injured while serving his country and lost his home on base in San Diego. The family applied to Operation Home Front an organization dedicated to helping veterans get back on their feet. 6 months later, they’re homeowners “It’s just nice to know that somebody was there to support us” says Palermo. The home has a kitchen 3 living rooms and bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a full backyard. Palermo and his wife, Allison married before he joined the military. They’re approaching their 15th anniversary. She says through it all, they never gave up.. on each other or a better future. “It’s so hard it is.. and it can be difficult to not let it take you down.” says Allison. “The reality is pretty crazy, we’ve never had anything with apartment keys and base housing, stuff like this this is anything we ever thought would happen” says Palermo. Citizens giving back to a man who served to ensure their freedom.
