Volunteers, donations needed for Bringle Lake Park improvements

TEXARKANA, Texas (KTAL/KMSS) – Work on the Bringle Lake Art Park is progressing ahead of the area’s first volunteer day this weekend.

Artists have recently painted the sidewalk near the spillway in vibrant colors, covering up a lot of graffiti.

City organizers said Tuesday they’ve already used most of the $2,900 raised in a recent online campaign and there’s more work to be done. Volunteers are also needed this Saturday to clean up the area.

“That’s the most important thing, is that people turn out and that they actually become engaged, and that they encourage other people to become engaged, because without their legwork, without their labor, this just isn’t gonna be possible,” said Texarkana, Texas Parks Communications Coordinator Erin Rogers.

Rogers encouraged volunteers to come to the spillway area this Saturday, June 1, from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. with supplies in hand. You can contact Rogers at 903-798-1715 or via email at erin.rogers@txkusa.org for more information or to sign up.
