Thunderstorms from east Texas traveling through northwest Louisiana are responsible for almost 6,500 power outages in Bossier Parish.

According to Carey Sullivan, SWEPCO spokesperson, around 2,500 customers in north Bossier served by Whitehurst Power Station have no power, and there are additional outages in the Benton Road/Benoist Circle area and in the Plain Dealing area.

In addition, Sullivan said they’re seeing “blinks” along other power lines in the area.

Sullivan said right now, SWEPCO is hoping to get power restored by 3 p.m. this afternoon, providing the weather cooperates.
