Communities across Central Arkansas are dealing with a pesky situation, with warmer weather keeping more bugs around.
Mosquitoes are one of the worst offenders.
“Out mowing the yard or weeding, you would just be covered in mosquitoes,” said Janet Adineh-Khart, who spends most days doing yard work at her Jacksonville rental properties. “There are just too many of them.”
Usually this time of year, the Jacksonville Public Works Department says it takes its mosquitoes spraying trucks off the road. Instead the department is adding more crews and routes.
“We’re doubling up on our routes spraying twice a week instead of once,” explained Street Superintendent Hal Toney. “The rain is bringing them out.”
Toney’s crews are trying to hit about 100 streets a night, but he says the bugs won’t truly be driven out until the weather changes.
