Women Veterans of the ArLaTex hold their first sunset ceremony


The Women Veterans of the ArkLaTex held their first sunset veterans ceremony at the Bossier Civic Center Veterans Memorial on Friday November 10th.

The guest speaker was Chief Master Sergeant Shelley Cohen, Command Chief of the 307th Bomb Wing Barksdale AFB. Chief Cohen is also a Purple Heart recipient. 

Colors was presented by the Airline High School JROTC program. 

Air Force Veteran Patrilla Vigil, said “[It] Brought me to tears. Made me very proud. People usually associate a veteran as male but we’re in there doing our part and helping everything along.”

The WVOTA is also working towards erecting a monument at the Bossier Civic Center to women veterans.
