BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Police in Louisiana say an officer has been shot and wounded while responding to a domestic dispute.
Baton Rouge police tell news outlets the sergeant wounded Monday night has been hospitalized with injuries not considered life-threatening. Police say officers were investigating the reported dispute between a woman and a man when the man shot at them, hitting the sergeant in the leg. Spokesman Sgt. L’Jean McKneely says officers didn’t return fire.
He says officers detained the man, who had attempted to flee. McKneely says the woman involved in the dispute wasn’t injured. Authorities didn’t immediately release the identities of those involved. It’s unclear what charges, if any, have been filed in the case.
