  • People who are 70 years of age and above;
  • Home health services patients and staff;
  • Ambulatory/outpatient health care personnel;
  • Residents, students and staff of schools of allied health; and
  • People being treated for end stage renal disease (patients on dialysis).

The list of pharmacies includes 12 in Northwest Louisiana: six in Shreveport, two in Bossier City, and one each in Plain Dealing, Mansfield, Natchitoches, and Many.

Gov. John Bel Edwards announced detailed plans on December 31 for distributing the state’s next shipment of vaccines using a network of pharmacies.

Those who are eligible will be required to make an appointment at one of the participating pharmacies to get the first of the two-shot vaccine. Anyone who arrives without an appointment will not be vaccinated.

Just a reminder, people vaccinated with the Pfizer vaccine will receive the second dose 21 days after the first dose.

Those getting the Moderna vaccine will receive the second dose 28 days after the first dose.

LDH stresses that only a limited supply of  10,000 doses will be available, so officials it will take a few weeks to complete the first of the two-dose series for all facilities.
