Seven injured in Highlands Ranch school shooting, two suspects in custody

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office says at least seven students have been injured in a school shooting in the Denver suburb of Highlands Ranch.

The first shots were fired 1:53 p.m. inside STEM School Highlands Ranch at Ridgeline Boulevard and Plaza Drive, according to the sheriff’s office. The sheriff’s office said shots were still being fired as officers were entering the school. 

Preliminary information from the sheriff’s office indicates seven people have been injured. 

The sheriff’s office said two suspects are in custody. They are searching the school for a possible third suspect.

STEM School Highlands Ranch is a public charter school with more than 1,850 students in kindergarten through 12th grades.
