Suspect still at large after employee shot, another wounded at Baton Rouge area IHOP

One dead, one injured at shooting outside restaurant

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal shooting outside an IHOP restaurant.

EBRSO says two suspects got out of a vehicle and shot two IHOP employees who were on their break.

One of those employees died from injuries sustained in the shooting. The other reportedly tried to drive themselves to the hospital, calling authorities along the way. That victim was found by paramedics farther down Siegen Lane near Airline Highway and is expected to survive.

Video from the scene provided by a witness shows that victim getting into a vehicle and leaving the scene.

  • Dark hoodie and light or gray pants

EBRSO says the vehicle used by the suspects was a stolen vehicle out of Ascension Parish. It was later found in flames in the same neighborhood where the second victim was found. Investigators say it was intentionally set on fire.

The search is on for the two suspects and anyone with information about this shooting is asked to call the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office at (225) 389-5000.
