‘Louisiana did what was right:’ Gov. Edwards gives remarks after veto override session

Louisiana

BATON ROUGE, La (BRPROUD)- Gov. John Bel Edwards held a news conference Wednesday afternoon to discuss the outcome of the historical veto override session and give an update on Louisiana’s response to COVID-19.

“No governor ever wants to have a veto overridden, no governor wants to have a veto override session. Because the vetoes I issued, I believe, were in the state’s best interest,” said Gov. Edwards.

Gov. Edwards said he will hold another news conference to discuss COVID-19 on Friday, July 23. He said Louisiana has work to do and that the state is in the fourth surge.

“We have to do better and we have to come together to do better,” said Gov. Edwards in response to the current COVID-19 surge.
