CORRECTION: On Friday March 16 KTAL NBC 6 News aired a story regarding a warning from the Mount Pleasant, Texas Police Department. Mount Pleasant Police told KTAL NBC 6 News that they’ve received reports of a company soliciting their services but they didn’t have a permit to make home repairs.

Some of the video included in the story showed a local business called ‘Dent Poppers’.
By showing the video, KTAL NBC 6 News implied this was the business Mount Pleasant Police warned about. This was not the case. It was a mistake and we apologize to ‘Dent Poppers’ for the error.

‘Dent Poppers’ is properly licensed and has the necessary permits to operate in Mount Pleasant, Texas. They’re located at 710 N. Jefferson Avenue, Mount Pleasant, Texas 75455.

ORIGINAL: The hail storm that hit Mount Pleasant over the weekend left behind a trail of damage.
Police warn residents to be ware of solicitors.

Assistant Chief Kyle Holcomb says, “we’ve received one report of a company that did not appear to be on the up and up, they did not have a permit. .”

If you receive a knock on your door from a repairman police advise that you first ask for a permit to protect yourself from scam artist.

Holcomb adds, “if somebody comes to your door, doesn’t have a permit then we need to be notified.”

Terrie Diaz’s home and car was severely damaged from the storm. She describes solicitors that have paid her a visit. “All of them were from out of town, wanted to take my vehicle out of town and I wasn’t comfortable with that”, says Diaz.

Holcomb urges residents to use common sense, “if the hair on the back of your neck stands up tells you it’s not right, it’s usually not right.”
