UPDATE: Suspect arrested in Grambling State University shooting

GRAMBLING, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – UPDATE (1:39 p.m.): According to a release sent by Louisiana State Police detectives say 19-year-old Princeston Adams of Shreveport pulled a firearm and shot a male subject twice in the chest area, during an altercation.

GSU Police Department responded to the gunfire resulting in one officer being shot in the leg while attempting to break up the altercation.

The GSU police officer and the male shooting victim were transported to a local hospital. The officer received non-life threatening injuries while the male subject remains in serious condition.

Adams has been booked in the Lincoln Parish Detention Center and is being charged with two counts of attempted 2nd-degree murder.

ORIGINAL STORY(5:00 a.m.): Grambling State University authorities responded to an in-door firearm discharge at the Frederick C. Hobdy Assembly Center on October 18 at approximately 1:30 a.m.

 Two individuals, one non-student and one police officer, were transported to North Louisiana Medical Center to receive care for injuries. 

Officers on the scene report that witnesses report a suspect fled campus following the discharge event.

An active investigation under this incident continues under the jurisdiction and leadership of the Louisiana State Police Department.
